The customer is recommended to contact Swedishcollar before or after the order is placed and to send us a photo when the measurement is taken. If our recommendation is not correct after you sent us the picture, Swedishcollar will pay for half the shipping costs.
The ankle cuffs from Swedish Collar are made to fit the human ankle with a snug and comfortable fit. Our philosophy when designing the sizes is that two sizes should fit one person. One size will give a tight fit and the second size will give a loose fit. From our study, the results shows that if the person wearing the ankle cuffs want to walk around with the ankle cuffs, the cuffs must fit tight around the ankle, especially if you choose a heavy material as the stainless steel or the solid bronze.
All parts are all made in a high precision CNC machine and are formed from a solid block of metal. The human ankle is not round, but very similar to an ellipse. Not a perfect ellipse, so there is some more space given in some directions. The geometry is shown in a picture further down this page.
Finally, before moving forward with pictures of different sizes and how they will fit our models, we must excuse the model in the picture. This is what legs will look like after playing football for many years and also carrying heavy load walking long distances during the military service 😊 .
The ankle cuffs are finally released in March 2024. The final release date will be announced 3 days before. Some longer delivery times will occur for some sizes in the beginning. If you are interested in knowing what sizes we have in stock for the moment, please contact us before placing an order. We will of course process your orders as fast as we can in the same order the orders arrive to us.
Measure the Ankles
To measure the size of your ankles for a Swedish ankle cuffs, use a flexible band. You can get a free flexible band at your nearest IKEA. The ankle cuffs sizes are in millimetres (mm). If your flexible band is in inches, use the conversion rate of 1 inch = 25.4mm.
When you measure your ankles you stand up on your feets to get the correct result. To measure the ankles, place the band where you are the smallest according to the picture to the side.
Firmly tight the band around your ankle. Do not pull the band too tight, just enough for the band to gently touch your skin. See the picture for more details.
Measure both your ankles. There might be some small differences between your ankles. If you believe that the difference is too big for one size to fit both ankles, please get in contact with us and we can ship one size for each ankle.
In the pictures to the side the model measures:
- Right Ankle: 235mm (dominant wrist)
- Left Ankle: 240mm
There are many sizes of cuffs to choose from. In total there are 11 sizes of cuffs and the difference between the two sizes is between 8mm and 11mm.
There are heavy cuffs and lighter cuffs. In the “fitting” pictures, we would like to show how well the cuffs fit the measured body
The model in the picture is 188cm tall, the weight is about 80kg. The properties of the ankles are assumed to be average if there now is anything called “average” in this world.
Version 50mm, size 229mm in Stainless Steel.
The stainless steel ankle cuffs in 50mm, size 229, fit snugly and comfortably on both ankles.
Both ankle cuffs stayes up without problems. There is some limitations when moving, but nothing that was not expected.
Version 50mm, size 238mm in Stainless Steel
Testing the size 238 gives the model some more space. It is possible to see the differences between the smaller 229 and the larger 238. There is a 9mm difference between the sizes.
The ankle cuffs in the larger size falls down a little, but are still comfortable to wear and to walk around with.
The conclusion is that both sizes fit very well, so it is up to the person wearing the cuffs to choose a snug fit or a loose fit.

Version 40mm, size 203, Stainless Steel
The stainless steel ankle cuffs, size 203, fits well and the model does not feel a big difference between the size 203 and 196. The larger size gives some more freedom, but also falls down a bit. The model can walk around wearing these ankle cuffs without any problem.

Summary of sizes for the female ankles
To choose the correct size for Ankle Cuffs, start by measuring the circumference of both ankles. All the Ankle Cuffs from Swedish Collar are to form the ankles nicely. All parts are made from a single block of metal using 5-axis CNC machines. The human ankles are very similar to an ellipse, but some more space is given in some directions to make it perfect. To measure the circumference around your ankles, place the measuring band where you are as smallest. Stand up with weight on your foot and measure firmly the circumference of your ankle. To get some help with this is to prefer.
The desired tightness of the Ankle Cuffs may vary from person to person. Two sizes should fit one person. One size for a tight fit and the second one for the more loose fit. Please, follow the diagram below to find your size.
The 50mm version is slightly taller and thicker than the 40mm version. The 50mm Ankle Cuff is 9mm at the waist compared to 8mm at the waist for the 40mm. The 50mm Ankle Cuff might feel tighter than the 40mm version because it is higher.
The size is the same for the 40mm and the 50mm, but the 50mm covers more of the leg. If the 50mm Ankle Cuff feels tight, the same size in the 40mm version may fit perfectly.
Dimensions of the Ankle cuffs
In most cases measuring the circumference should be enough, but to be sure to order the correct size, please also measure the “Side to Side” and “Front to Back”. These measured values should be smaller or equal to the selected cuff size.
